Cucumber salad!

Okay, so I've had this salad before. But I never really realised how much I actually like it and how easy it is to make it yourself! My mom is just so good at it! :-)

all you will need is:
* a cucumber
* SWEET chili sauce

-cut off the skin of the cucumber
- take out the seeds
-slice the cucumber in small pieces (thumb-sized)
-put the pieces in a bowl
-add sweet chili sauce (start with two tea spoons and see for yourself how much you like)
-mix it, so the chili sauce covers every piece of cucumber

and, done!

Enjoy,
Rachelleeeee.

Be different!

Have you ever seen a teenaged girl wear lipstick? I can tell you I haven't. But why? Has the lipgloss taken over the lipstick at this point in time? Well, if that really is true, I'm just gonna be different! You should really take a look in your mom's make-up bag - you'll find great blushes, lipsticks, you name it. As I looked in my mom's bag, I found a purple [hardly used] lipstick - Ohemghee I love it guys!

This lipstick is from Miss Helen so you can purchase it at Hema for a couple of euros.
The one I have is a dark, shimmery kind of purple. If you look at it, it's a pretty dramatic color but when I put it on it was lighter than I expected. Of course it's a matter of putting on a little or a great amount.

P.s. - lipstick will last longer if you put on chapstick first!

How to make your own brownies!

Ah, brownies. Don't we all love them? And really, they're so easy to make. Just follow the instructions on the box with the brownie mix. The only hard part is to wait for it to cool down after you take them out of the oven (need...to...resist...the...brownies....got...to...wait...a..little...longer...). Since we put on some extra chocolate frosting, it took about four(!) hours for the frosting not to be sticky or gooey anymore. Okay, it was a really thick layer. But it definitely was worth the wait! Great brownies, with extra chocolate frosting and four different types of sprinkles. Uhm, chocolate heaven?
Shout out to my dear friend Margriet who I made these amazing brownies with! You go girl!

Dear John

Hey you guys!
Last night I watched Dear John. Normally I don't cry or get emotional when I watch this kind of romance movies but this time.... I was actually about to tear up! The story really hit me, but maybe that has another reason....ahum. Dear John is about a Special Forces soldier thats on break for about two weeks. He goes back to his home town, Carlstown down in South Carolina and at the beach he accidently meets Savannah. They fall in love but he has to leave, so they promise to stay in touch. That explains the title, doesn't it? Well, I'll just shut up now before I give away the movie. But you reallyyyy should watch it!

Take care of your feet!

Feet. A part of our body that we don't often worry or think about. But still we use our feet to walk, run, bike, ride, dance, wiggle, stand, you name it! So, don't they deserve some respect from us? My answer is yes. A couple of weeks ago, I was at the pedicure place and the woman that was helping me asked if I used foot cream. I said I didn't... Turns out it's a really good habit - to treat your feet with a thick layer of foot cream after you take a shower. Put on socks right away, and keep them on while sleeping. When you wake up and take off your socks, your feet will feel amazingly soft! I thought this should really only be done in winter, but the lady told me you should care about your two friends even more in summer! This is when your feet are exposed to sunlight almost the whole day, and they will dry out. So readers, buy a tube of feet cream at your local pharmacy (shouldn't be that expensive) and feel the difference!

Don't we all hate chipped nails?

Okay, almost nobody else notices but you. Still it annoys me to have chipped nails. They're sharp, they're ugly, and most important of all - the chip may be very deep into your nail which means it will take a lotttt of time before it grows back to the perfect length again. And of courseeee the chips comes right at the moment when your nails look great! So, here are some tips to save you the trouble of cutting your nails too short or making the chip even worse.

* use a nail file (the ones made from paper/carton 'cause they don't trim too much of your nail!) to trim your nail. Do this carefully, since you don't want to get too close to the beginning of the chip (you'll be stuck with half a nail ready to be ripped off - - ouch!)
*file your nail round, not square. This will make it easier for your nail to grow. If you decide to square it, it's more likely to chip once again - and hey, then you're repeating the process!
*put on a tiny bit of fake nail glue on the left over chip (the cheapest kind should be around the 2 euros). Make sure it really is a tiny bit!
let this dry and then file your nail carefully again. Just to smoothen out the glue-layer.
*put on a clear coat of (strengthening) nail polish.

Be careful with zippers, leggings, and anything else harmful to your chip! It really sucks (and hurts!) if the chip gets worse.

If this all didn't work, you should try a band-aid so the chip is covered for a while.

Make your own mask!

Planning a girls' night? Or just in the mood for a mask, but you haven't got one at home? Feel like experimenting or just making a mess in your kitchen? If the answer to any of these questions is yes, you better start reading!

You will need:
a banana
honey
yogurt
[egg is possible]
Cut the banana into small pieces and throw them in a blender, or if you don't have one - mash it up!
Throw some honey and yogurt in a bowl with the mashed banana, and mix it.

Put a thick layer on your face but watch out for your eyes. If you get some in your eye - rinse with water.
This mask should stay on for at least fifteen minutes, maybe even thirty if you've got time. Remove the mask with some warm water. Your skin should now be soft and hydrated.

Love,
Rachelle

We tried it! - We advice you to use a liquid kind of honey, because the thick one doesn't blend properly.

Make your own scrub!

For all you recesionistas out there - no need to go to the pharmacy anymore! So many things you buy can also be home-made! So why pay way more for a blue scrub, in a blue container, with some kind of brand on it? All I got to say is - just don't (:

Home-made scrub:

* you will need either sugar or salt.
* then you add 2 spoons of olive oil
(It's a matter of mixing, and blending and just see for yourself how much sugar/salt you need to add to make it a scrubby-texture that will actually stick to your skin while using it.)

Now, this is all extra, but will make your scrub even better:
* milk powder (its really soft for your skin!)
* lemon juice (makes it smell fruity & fresh)

It may have a funky olive oily smell, but hey, how much did you just save on a tube of scrub?!

Ah, first posting!

Hey there guys!
So, I'll tell you a little about myself. I'm Rachelle, fifteen years old, I loveee singing and listening to music. I'm the kind of person that will check her facebook and hyves page a billion times a day, just to make sure I didn't miss out on any new stuff. I mean, hey, it's addicting! I don't know why but today I just came up with a random idea and decided to create a Twitter account. I have no flippin' idea how it all works, but eventually I will find out. Then, after an exciting "oh em gee - I have a Twitter account"- rush, I realised I still have a blog account @ Blogger.com. So I cleaned it up a bit, and now here we are. haha.

So, my first posting will be about tea. Y'all, don't stop reading already. It's pretty interesting stuff, okay! I just found out what my favorite tea flavor is - lemon! Wow it's so refreshing, yet hot and not too sweet. I have been obsessed with tea for about a week now I think. I hosted a tea party a couple of days ago and of course, all I drank was tea. But not two or three cups - no, I'm talking 20 cups. Big time tea drinker, right? haha. I started looking up what green tea does to you. Apparently it's really healthy. You should totally look into it: http://chinesefood.about.com/library/weekly/aa011400a.htm

My mom is really happy with me, since I started drinking tea more than diet coke. Yes, tea does make your teeth a bit yellow but hey, it's healthy and just keep on brushing your teeth! :)

So, I think I'm gonna click on Publish Post, yay my first post guys!
And while I click, I'll start walking towards the kitchen to get me some more lemon tea... ahhhh!

Love,
Rachelle
